The product is nickel in matte, an intermediate product, from lateritic ores at its integrated mining and processing facilities near Sorowako on the island of Sulawesi.

Nickel in matte granules contains an average of 78 percent nickel, 20 percent sulphur and another 2 percent is cobalt. Its entire production is sold in US Dollars under long-term contracts for refining in Japan, based on the London Metal Exchange (LME) price standard.
